Title: Spring Tides
Anna says: My practice is reportage through observational drawing, and I am currently engaged in a series of illustrations documenting the decline of the fishing industry in Newlyn. This pertinent local issue is part of a global problem and my work aims to promote discussion on the larger environmental and cultural questions. Is over-fishing the predominant cause of reduced fish stocks or is pollution also to blame? Does the decommissioning of fishing boats serve its intended purpose or just destroy our rich maritime heritage? Is the development of fishing harbours into tourist attractions and marinas the only way to create employment?
Media: Watercolour, ink, pencil and oil pastel.
